Symptoms of Glaucoma
Glaucoma commonly affects both eyes, but can also only occur in only one. The early stages of glaucoma are often asymptomatic, meaning the disease can progress until eye damage is extensive. In the advanced stages, you may notice peripheral vision loss, at which point you may not be able to regain it.
Glaucoma can progress slowly over time or can happen suddenly. Attending regular comprehensive eye examinations can ensure your eyes are taken care of, and any early signs of glaucoma are detected before they worsen.
Common types of glaucoma are:
- Open-angle glaucoma
- Angle-closure glaucoma
- Normal-tension glaucoma
- Congenital glaucoma
